In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating all of the amazing contributions and service of everyday sheroes we are lucky to know, admire and support. Nobody embodies a #shero quite like Roslyn Jaffe, founder of the Jaffe Awards, and our sister company, dressbarn.
While being a mother of three, Roslyn Jaffe made history when she co-founded the first dressbarn store in 1962, a time when a staying at home was often times the norm for women. She wondered, “What if I could create a store that gave women the level of service they deserve…all the help and attention they’d get in a fancy shop, but make it affordable, and right in their hometown.”
It was Mrs. Jaffe’s undeniable strength, determination and commitment that helped transform dressbarn into what is now ascena retail group inc., a leading specialty retailer under Ann Taylor, Loft, Lou & Grey, maurices, dressbarn, Lane Bryant, Catherines, and the Justice brand. In addition to her passion for fashion, Mrs. Jaffe also cared deeply about giving back to the community — inspiring her to launch the Jaffe Awards, a nonprofit that gives financial awards to everyday heroes who are making the world a better place for women and children.
Today, Mrs. Jaffe continues to reward everyday heroes who are making the world a better place for women and children with the Jaffe Awards program, stay active with ascena retail group, inc. and inspire trailblazing sheroes like herself to serve others with style. So join us in celebrating International Women’s Day by tagging a #shero that inspires you today (and every day) on Instagram with #servicewithstyle
