Brooke Burnett started blogging to share chicness, beauty, and travel tips. Here, she brings her style game to a night out in the great state of Texas. Brooke’s three big loves: fashion, fresh flowers & her girlfriends – she’s a Southern beauty through and through!
Hi y’all! I’m Brooke, the blonde behind One Small Blonde and Dallas fashion blogger. A little about me… My blog is for women who want to feel comfortable in their own style without breaking the bank. I mean let’s be real, as much as I love shopping, I have to be realistic with that “B” word I am not a fan of…Budget. Yep I said it! That’s one of the reasons I picked out the two outfits below for a Texas Girls Night Out. Girls night is honestly my favorite night of the week, and most of the time it’s more than one night. Here in Texas we are all about keeping it low-key which usually translates to cute and casual. Even if it’s just a pair of jeans, and a cute white top like this lace-up ruffle top you can bet I’ll be wearing some sort of heels for girls night out. I love this top because it’s so on point with the lace-up trend, and it’s perfect with white jeans or even a white jean skirt for a classic all white look for summer.
My girls and I are pretty big foodies and winos so girls night usually involves trying a new restaurant or hitting up our favorite rooftop patio like HG Sply Co. BTW…when I say foodies I mean we aren’t afraid to indulge. However, our favorite girls nights are usually when The Bachelor is on so we can do happy hour after work, and then head back to my house to watch the show. One of our favorite happy hour spots is Happiest Hour, which has one of the best outdoor patios with a great view of Downtown Dallas. As much as I love getting out and about in Dallas, I love hosting girls night even more. Fun fact, my first posts on the blog were actually my favorite recipes I attempted to cook. If we are really feeling casual for girls night we love going to our favorite laid-back spot, Chicken Scratch, for fried chicken, beer, and to play some bocce ball or darts. When it’s a night like this then I may be caught in a pair of flats (guilty) like these cute lace-up gladiator sandals. Also, what’s more casual and Texan than a cute denim dress? Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like if you grew up in the south then you’ve worn a denim dress all your life? Good thing it’s trending big time this season. When really feeling adventurous for girls night out we recently ventured out to Tyler, TX. Yes, it’s about 2 hours east of Dallas, but this incredible new restaurant and entertainment venue called The Grove was so worth the drive. I actually wore this denim dress out there since it’s so comfortable. You’ve got to be comfortable when eating some good Texas BBQ, and their Smoke Shack did not disappoint.
Bottom line…we really love taking advantage of girls night for any excuse. Regardless of boyfriends, husbands, or whatever it may be you can guarantee girls night will never (seriously, I mean never) disappear from our group. We aren’t fancy, and comfort trumps anything else when it comes to our style.
