What gets you in the holiday spirit?

We get into the spirit of the holidays by dancing and singing to holiday music and doing our advent calendar! The kids get a little present every day, as we countdown to Christmas. The elf on the shelf also makes its grand appearance this time of year.

Favorite way to spend the holidays?

Watching Christmas movies, baking cookies and decorating ginger bread houses. And of course…wrapping gifts in our Christmas pjs by the fireplace.

What holiday tradition do you look forward to the most?

Setting up our Christmas village and opening one gift on Christmas eve while feasting on Colombian food.

Playing in the snow! We missed the snow when we lived in the West Coast, but now that we are back in the Midwest, we’re very happy to have snow days again.

If you could go back one memory from the holidays…what would it be?

Our last Christmas in Chicago with all of our friends and family close by.

Cozy layers with sparkle and faux fur accents. I like to dress up denim looks with a touch of sequins and super soft sweaters that you can wear from day to night.

Snow boots, a new coat, sweaters, and more sweaters.

Best gift to give and to get?

Gift cards so you can buy what you really really want.

Real tree or faux tree?

Both! We have a real tree with traditional ornaments and colors and we also have a faux tree with blue accents.

Disney’s “Prend and Landing” is our movie and Charlie Brown’s “Christmas Time is Here” is our song.

I desperately need a new winter coat…

What gets you in the holiday spirit?

For sure the music! There is something fun about turning on your favorite Pandora holiday station and grooving out! Oh, and wrapping paper (that’s usually the first thing I purchase).

Favorite way to spend the holidays?

With my family. Some live near and others far, but being able to catch up and toast to a great year is a highlight of my holiday season.

What holiday tradition do you look forward to the most?

We have a local holiday kick off in the small town we live in, in Illinois. There is a parade with Santa, we light the big tree in town and usually go out for pizza! My best friend lives in the same town, and we have been celebrating the season together for over six years now…it’s become our annual tradition! And now we get to take our kids to it.

Best part about winter?

Hands down, fuzzy socks and online shopping!

If you could go back to one memory from the holidays…what would it be?

Celebrating with my grandparents. They have not been with us for many years, but I have such fond memories of their home during the holidays. Lots of singing, food and fun. When we were very little, my grandparents would “hire” to be Santa and come to the house on Christmas Eve when we were all together as a family. The little ones thought that was the coolest thing ever! I hope to carry on that tradition with my little guy when he gets a little older.

Define your holiday style.

A traditional twist.

No holiday meal is ever complete without…

Wine!

If you could unwrap one gift early what would it be?

Our two year old is really getting into Santa this year, so I would say letting him open a gift he asked Santa for and seeing his eyes light up in return.

What gets you in the holiday spirit?

It’s a tie between holiday music OR our first snow! I have a ton of Christmas music both on CD’s and (gasp) cassettes!

Favorite way to spend the holidays?

Definitely with my family! I’m very fortunate that so many of my immediate family live in Duluth. We have a tradition of getting together for every holiday with a meal and time at the cabin.

What holiday traditions do you look forward to the most?

Black Friday shopping with my girls. We’re die-hards from way back when Black Friday was actually on Friday. We’re those early morning, up way before the crack of dawn and stand in line kind of people!

Best part about winter?

When it’s done! JK, I love how beautiful and fresh the landscape looks right after a good snow. I took up downhill skiing about 5+ years ago, so it had become a fun escape for the hubby and me.

If you could go back to one memory from the holidays…what would it be?

Spending time with my mom. She passed away 3 1/2 years ago….and the holidays were so special for her. She used to tell us kids, “I hope I live long enough until you are grown up, to give your kids a good Christmas!” Apparently she didn’t think my Dad would have done it justice. We used to laugh at that all the time. I take after her in so many ways and that makes me smile.

A winter wonderland.

Peace on Earth!

Definitely REAL and definitely FLOCKED!

Go-to holiday movie or song?

“It’s A Wonderful Life” is my absolute FAVORITE movie. I cry at the same parts no matter how many times I watch it.

No holiday meal is ever complete without…

A little Christmas cheer!

If you could unwrap one gift early what would it be?

I’m much more of a giver than a receiver. I honestly take “total” enjoyment in buying gifts for others. But I am excited this year for my grandson’s Michael/my little Gbaby’s 1st Christmas. He’ll be nine months old on Christmas.
