Never underestimate the Power of Pink! Since 2017, you’ve helped us raise $883,500 to fund 17,670 hours of research in partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). This year, you can help us continue to make a difference when you purchase bracelets from our Power of Pink collection — 50% of the purchase price will be donated to support The maurices Award and the groundbreaking research of Drs. James Ingle and Liewei Wang at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Your purchase makes a difference! Just ask Annie Shumway, our Store Leader in State College, Pennsylvania and her mom Carlyn, a 10-year breast cancer survivor.
Tell us about yourself, Annie:
I’m working towards my bachelor’s degree through Penn State World Campus. In my free time, I love being outdoors for hiking trips and bonfires and enjoy traveling and exploring new places. Check out my posts on maurices instagram story for a tour of Bellefonte, my beautiful hometown!
Tell us about your mom, Carlyn:
My mother is an absolute rock star of a woman! In May of 2009, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had her first surgery to remove the tumor a week later and received chemotherapy treatment. Since the lab results from genetic testing showed that it was an aggressive form of breast cancer, mom elected to have a bilateral mastectomy. Throughout her battle, mom never once felt hopeless or defeated. She didn’t skip a beat during or after her fight. She went back to school and graduated with her own bachelor’s degree in 2014. Most importantly, she recently celebrated her 10-year, cancer-free anniversary.
