maurices loves teachers

Raise your hand if you can think back to the teacher that influenced you the most — one that helped you discover your true strengths and passions. Can’t chalk it up to just one? That’s because teachers are some of the most caring, dedicated, and all out selfless people that most of us will ever cross paths with. So, this month, we’re celebrating back to school by showing all the amazing teachers a little extra appreciation and love for all that they do…not to mention recognizing a few of our favorites teachers below for their style too.

Meet Jules…kindergarten teacher by day, fashionista blogger by night. Whether she’s getting her classroom ready or blogging about best in class outfits for teachers, you can count on Jules to bring her A+ game. Just wait until you see her Instagram game…

Smarts, style, and sass…pretty sure Ashlyn Ellsworth has got it all. When she’s not getting 2nd graders excited about learning, she’s inspiring teachers all around the world with her creative take on learning and rocking the teacher life in style on her Instagram.

Some things are better together…like Karli’s love for fashion and teaching kindergarten. And we couldn’t be more in love with her perfect first day back to school outfit…

If this outfit could teach, it would be a lesson on mixing prints, layering with chunky cardis (and confidence) and going for it. Extra credit if you can avoid getting paint on anything that’s not navy or black…

Show us your back to school style on Instagram using #mauriceslovesteachers and #discovermaurices and don’t forget to let your favorite teachers know how awesome they are!

It would be great if you gave a teacher discount.

    • Elisa Bergman-Thomas

    • Nancy McLaughlin

    • Mandy Dufresne

year round too! I love shopping at Maurices!

  • Lauren Greenfield

I agree teacher discount would be great!

  • Kristin Bellefeuille-Taylor

I can get teacher discounts at Ann Taylor Loft…It would be so awesome if I could get them at Maurice’s too!!

    • DuluthMaurices

      Hi Kristin!
We are having a teacher styling event with an extra discount in all stores September 14-18! 25% off your total regular priced purchase plus double loyalty points!

  • Patty Segerman

Agreed. Discounts for teachers would be nice.

  • Kelsey

I love to shop at Maurices and I get most of my teaching clothes from there, but I always wait until there is a sale. I would definitely shop there more if they would offer teacher discount all year round!

I absolutely agree, Lane Bryant and Dress Barn offer Teacher discounts….I would buy more if it was offered. Teacher pay sucks and the price of dress clothes doesn’t help

I couldn’t agree more with the previous posts about a teacher discount. When push comes to shove, most teachers spend money on their classrooms and students before themselves. Even if you offered 2-3 times a year. Something like “show us your current teacher ID and say blank % off your total purchase.” Love your clothing, but I have to wait for sales to buy. I thought when it said “Celebrate Teachers” my Maurice’s dream had come true.

I’m a teacher and I do not think a teacher discount is a necessary thing to desire. I love my Maurices pieces that are school appropriate, but to be honest, most of my Maurices purchases are not things I could wear to school since the shirts quite often have lace or decorative shoulders which require wearing a strapless bra (or being tacky) and other reasons they are not quite school appropriate. If you were going to offer a teacher discount, it should only be on things that can be worn in the classroom. Why ask a company with affordable clothes to offer more discounts? Are we wanting to drive the quality down or the prices up so that what we pay with our teacher’s discount would be the same as what we pay now and everyone else would pay more?

    • Marsha Salo

I am a teacher and buy a lot of my clothes from Maurices. I live in the Midwest, therefore, layering is necessary. If I were a young teacher I would not buy a lot from there as you don’t want to dress like your students, especially if teaching high school. What I wear “out” isn’t going to be what I wear in my classroom, but you can dress things up or down by shopping at Maurices.

  • Cara L. Walls

Since I work for Maurices I get my company discount. However, as a teacher (yes, I do both), I definitely think the company should offer discounts to teachers. I have several teacher friends who love our clothing, but they generally wait until there is a really good sale to purchase. When other teachers come into the store to shop, it would nice to be able to offer them advice on some of my favorite things and a discount!

    • Kim DeGrazio

      Would love this!

  • Just another teacher

The outfits are cute. As a teacher who works with special education students I cannot wear most of the clothes you advertise as I have to do literally chase students down, manage aggression, deal with spit and other body fluids and other physical tasks. The shirts are not an option as they often have decorative shoulders and are not appropriate for the classroom. To be honest, I buy most of my work clothes secondhand so I can throw it away at the end of the day if I need to. (It is not unusual for me to have students spit or throw body fluids at staff.) Someday, maybe. On a positive note, thanks for recognizing our profession!

    • DuluthMaurices

We so appreciate you and all that you do!

  • Teaching in PV

Looking forward to the discount. Thank you!

  • Betty Tucker

As a teacher, and shopper (most of my work clothes are from maurice’s), a teacher discount would be awesome! Everywhere gives military and fire/police discounts. We (teachers) have to dress nice and appropriately for our profession. The previously mentioned wear uniforms. I totally agree with and support them having a discount, but what about us?

    • Kelsey Gamble

I competely agree! I also get most of my clothes at Maurices but usually have to wait for items to be on sale because I work for a very poor district and make very little in comparison to living costs. A teacher discount would help immensely in keeping my wardrobe nice and professional.

This past year I was on a mission to get healthy for myself, family and my school family. Well I have lost lost a lot of weight and being on a teacher budget and 4 kids in school did leave much for myself to update my wardrobe. I went from a size 24 to wearing a 16 right now. I can actually say that I am a better wife, mom, and teacher since losing the weight. So, new wardrobe would be awesome.
